Toasted Cheese’s Mini-Nano Challenge originated in this daily writing thread in August 2011.
What it is: A warm-up or alternative to NaNoWriMo.
When: September 1-30.
Where: Toasted Cheese Forums.
Who can participate: Anyone. Registration is not required to post at Chasms & Crags. (You will need to register if you want to post your writing for feedback at the critique forums.)
Challenge: Write 5,000 words in 30 days (or 167 words per day).
Bonus Challenge: Use the daily calendar prompts to start each day’s writing.
What’s eligible: Fiction. It could be a single short story, a series of smaller pieces, or a prequel to your NaNoWriMo novel.
How to win: Honor system. Keep us posted on your word count as you go. Announce you’ve reached 5,000 words by end-of-day September 30.
What you get: Personal satisfaction, plus a 5,000-word story. Oh, and cheesetacular participant and winner badges to stick on your blog.
